The Labour Court recommended a 2.5% pay increase for Diageo employees, effective from 1 October 2019, in a recommendation dated 12 April 2021. The increase was to be pensionable for members of the Defined Contribution Pension scheme and non-pensionable for members of the Guinness Ireland Group Pension Scheme. The recommendation followed a dispute between Diageo and the Diageo Group of Unions (Gsu, Connect, SIPTU) over pay, pensionability, post-retirement medical centre benefits and bonus or profit share. The Court said unresolved concerns about the pension scheme were seriously affecting relations and hampering resolution. It recommended comprehensive engagement on those issues over 12 weeks from 1 May 2021.
