The Labour Court recommended that Premier Auto Parts pay Mr Stephen Morrissey €2,730 after finding he was treated unfairly in the way his employment was terminated. The recommendation was signed on 8 February 2021. Mr Morrissey said he was dismissed after raising concerns about a pay rise and his working hours. The employer did not attend the hearing, but said in a letter that the termination was lawful. The Court found the employer had not followed the Code of Practice on Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures, including by failing to tell Mr Morrissey the purpose of a meeting or that dismissal was under consideration.
