The Labour Court recommended enhanced redundancy terms for 65 staff made redundant after St Monica’s Nursing Home DAC went into liquidation. The unions had sought terms above the statutory redundancy payments funded through State insolvency arrangements. The Court recommended calculating redundancy terms using the formula applied to public service workers and providing fair and reasonable termination payments to staff with less than two years’ service. It also recommended engagement with the Religious Sisters of Charity, the HSE and other stakeholders to secure funding. The recommendation was signed on 27 October 2020.
