Labour Court recommends €500 voucher for worker denied workplace access

The Labour Court varied an earlier recommendation and recommended that Our Lady's Hospice and Care Services pay a worker a €500 tax-efficient voucher after finding that blocking her access to her workplace was inappropriate and caused distress. The decision was dated 15 October 2020. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, had appealed the Adjudication Officer's recommendation about the employer's handling of a disciplinary process and grievance. The Court substantially agreed with the earlier findings on the disciplinary process, but found that the continued denial of workplace access was inappropriate. It also recommended that both sides work towards restoring a positive professional environment.
