The Labour Court recommended changing a pay-grading settlement for 10 multi-task attendants at Breffni Care Centre, moving the start date from June 2016 to June 2014. Its recommendation was signed on 6 October 2020. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought pay retrospection to 2005, saying the attendants had been placed on Band 4 when they should have been on Band 3. The Health Service Executive, Breffni Care Centre, said it had corrected the grading issue and offered retrospection beyond the claim date, but the workers had not applied during a 2016 recruitment campaign. The Court said it could not establish whether the attendants had performed care duties since 2005. It recommended amending the earlier proposal by replacing “retrospection” with “regularisation” and moving the start date to June 2014. The Court recommended that both sides accept the amended proposal in full and final settlement.
