The Labour Court recommended that HSE South increase a goodwill payment to €5,000 to settle a paramedic’s grievance over upgrading and regularisation as a Paramedic Supervisor. The recommendation was dated 14 September 2020. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said he had performed the higher duties from 2010 to 2018. HSE South said he had been assigned the role only during a three-month secondment in 2011. The Court found no proof he had been requested or approved to perform the duties over the wider period, so it could not recommend in his favour. It also noted the grievance had stalled and that management had failed to follow its grievance procedures. The recommended payment was to be accepted in full and final settlement.
