The Labour Court recommended against a general operative’s claim for higher pay from Apple Operations Europe, in a recommendation signed on 10 August 2020. The worker sought an extra €10 a week retrospectively from 2015 for employees on Long Term Flexible contracts, along with equal status for those with more than four years’ continuous service. The Court noted that LTF general operatives were paid less than non-LTF colleagues, but said the difference arose from a collective agreement between Apple and SIPTU that had been endorsed by a union ballot. It found the dispute was an attempt by one worker to set aside a valid collective agreement and rejected the claim.
