Labour Court recommends HSE pension talks after worker’s regrading

The Labour Court recommended that the Health Service Executive and a worker return to local discussions about the effect of his regrading on his pension. The decision, dated 28 July 2020, varied an adjudication officer’s earlier recommendation. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said similar roles at two other locations had been paid at a higher rate since 2017. He received the higher scale from 1 November 2019, when his job evaluation upgrade was approved. The HSE said the other posts had been filled through open competition, while his post was upgraded through job evaluation. The Court recommended local discussion of the pension issue. If the parties could not agree within three months, they could return to the Court for a final decision.
