The Labour Court recommended annual pay rises of 3% for three years for 270 general operatives at Cargotec Engineering Ireland Limited’s Dundalk plant, subject to the union’s acceptance of specified conditions. The recommendation was signed on 7 May 2020. Unite sought annual increases of 3.5%, double time for agreed overtime before 8.30am and the right to be accompanied at performance meetings. The company offered an 8% total increase and sought a commitment against cost-increasing claims. The Court recommended the 3% rises for 2019, 2020 and 2021, with worker cooperation and no cost-increasing claims during the period. It did not recommend the union’s higher overtime rate or accompaniment requests. It also recommended phased introduction of PDP Light for hourly paid workers and that the company provide training materials to the union.
