The Labour Court recommended that Depuy Synthes (Ireland) recognise Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and engage with it on employment matters affecting its members. The recommendation was signed on 12 March 2020. SIPTU sought recognition for negotiation purposes on behalf of 137 General Operatives. It said the employer refused to engage with the union as their chosen representative. The employer opposed recognition and cited its direct engagement processes, including an employee forum.
