The Labour Court recommended that Bus Eireann pay a worker €1,000 over failures in a promotion competition. The decision was signed on 6 March 2020. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, sought a post as an Automatic Vehicle Location Inspector. The Court found the worker was not told about the vacancies while on sick leave and was not formally informed in writing that his application had failed or how to seek feedback. It found Bus Eireann was remiss in its procedures, but found no grounds to conclude the competition was unfair or irrational. The Court recommended the payment in full and final settlement of the claim.
