The Labour Court recommended that the Health Service Executive and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union record the details of each call-out at Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, from 1 January to 31 December 2020, then review the carpenters’ roster claim in 2021. The Court did not recommend adding carpenters to the emergency on-call roster. The union argued that some call-outs were work for carpenters and that adding them would not increase the total number of call-outs. The HSE said the carpentry work was not emergency work and did not justify the cost. The Court said the annual number of carpenter call-outs was minimal and it could not assess the union’s account of which trades handled them.
