The Labour Court recommended a 2.25% pay increase for Primark’s 5,000 Retail Staff, effective from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019. The recommendation was dated 29 October 2019. The Court also recommended no concession at that time on the additional annual leave claim or Primark’s proposed change to unsocial-hours premium arrangements. Mandate sought a 3.4% increase and an extra day of service-related annual leave. Primark said it had better wage rates than others in the sector and a comprehensive benefits package. It also proposed moving the premium’s start time from 7am to 5am to support earlier deliveries. The Court considered both sides’ submissions before making its recommendations.
