Labour Court recommends no change to Gas Networks Ireland disciplinary sanction

The Labour Court recommended no change to a disciplinary sanction imposed on a worker at Gas Networks Ireland, finding no basis to alter it. The recommendation was signed on 2 July 2019. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, appealed an Adjudication Officer decision, arguing the sanction was disproportionate, unprecedented and outside company practice, and that the process was unfair. Gas Networks Ireland said the sanction was proportionate, allowed under its disciplinary policy and imposed through fair procedures.
