The Labour Court recommended restoring two years’ value of money due to workers at Enable Ireland in full and final settlement of their retrospective incremental pay dispute. The recommendation was signed on 24 June 2019. The union said the workers were entitled to increments from 2012 and that an earlier two-year compensation offer had been withdrawn. Enable Ireland said it could not repay the money without HSE funding and had faced funding cuts of around €4.7 million since 2010. The Court said there was a strong case for full repayment dating to 2012, but considered that impractical given the employer’s financial position and the end of the funded service. It recommended that Enable Ireland and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union approach the HSE to seek funding for the two-year repayment.
