The Labour Court recommended revised bereavement leave arrangements for Health Service Executive HSE and Health Service Staff Panel and PNA, including 20 working days for a spouse or partner and child, and five days for an immediate relative. The recommendation was signed on 10 June 2019. The union side argued the improved arrangements already introduced for civil servants and local government should apply to health-sector staff. The HSE said the claim would increase costs and raise backfill pressures. The Court recommended the parties return to Conciliation to discuss backfill and related issues, with a view to implementation from 1 October 2019.
