The Labour Court recommended a 2.5% pay increase for workers at Flex’s Cork plant from 1 October 2018 to 30 June 2019. The recommendation was signed on 30 April 2019. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought a 4% increase, citing more business, new customers and more than 35 agency workers. Flex said its Irish business had incurred substantial losses and offered 2.5% from January 2019. The Court rejected the union’s proposed comparators and considered Flex’s account of comparator increases substantially correct. It recommended the increase in light of the company’s projected return to profitability in 2020–21.
