Labour Court recommends review of National Standards Authority worker’s full job

The Labour Court recommended that the National Standards Authority of Ireland review a worker’s entire job to determine whether it was properly graded. The recommendation was signed on 15 April 2019. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said a task he performed belonged to a higher grade and sought a job evaluation. The Authority said the task was a small part of his role and it lacked approval for a job evaluation scheme. The Court said it did not have details of the duties at both grades to decide whether the worker was doing essentially the same work for lower pay. It recommended a review of his whole job using the process applied in 2017. The Court upheld the Adjudication Officer’s decision.
