Labour Court replaces €600 recommendation with mediation in bus escort dispute

The Labour Court replaced a €600 compensation recommendation with a recommendation for mediation in a bus escort’s dispute with the Board of Management Scoil Aonghusa. The Court’s decision was signed on 22 March 2019. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial & Technical Union, had appealed the Adjudication Officer’s recommendation. She raised concerns following a change in the transport contract and said they needed to be addressed to help her return to work. The Court recommended that the parties and, if possible, the transport contractor attend mediation through the WRC to address her concerns and facilitate her return. The earlier recommendation was amended accordingly.
