The Labour Court recommended that Irish Archaeological Consultancy accept Unite the Union’s right to represent employees who were union members. The recommendation was dated 28 January 2019. Unite sought recognition and collective bargaining rights, saying it represented 27 of the company’s declared workforce of 36 and that there were no collective bargaining arrangements. Irish Archaeological Consultancy said its direct engagement model served staff well and employers were not required to bargain collectively. The company did not attend the hearing but sent a written submission.
