The Labour Court recommended that Mondelez Ireland (Rathmore) keep the retirement age of 65 in its collective agreement until the parties agree a replacement. The recommendation was dated 22 January 2019. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said some workers wanted the option of working beyond 65, but the company said the age was set by its collective agreement and pension scheme. The Court noted that three individuals mentioned in submissions had since retired and concluded that allowing work beyond 65 would amend the agreement’s mandatory retirement term.
