The Labour Court recommended that Glanbia Ballitore increase its goodwill payment to six shunting drivers who lost weekend overtime from €500 to €1,000 each in full and final settlement. The recommendation was dated 18 January 2019. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought compensation for the loss of weekend shunting work at a neighbouring company’s site. Glanbia said the work was arranged at the neighbour’s request, was not guaranteed regular overtime and offered €500 each as a goodwill gesture. The Court noted that the neighbour controlled the work and its ending, and that Glanbia gained no financial or competitive advantage. It recommended the increased payment.
