The Labour Court recommended that Sdo & MJV Waste Water Treatment Works pay staff an additional once-off €1,000 as part of a settlement with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was signed on 21 August 2018. The union sought a 10% pay rise over three years from July 2017. The company offered staged increases of 2.5% from June 2018, June 2019 and June 2020, plus 2.5% or €1,000, whichever was greater, for 2017–18. The Court recommended that both sides accept a shift pattern unless they agreed an alternative roster by the first week of November 2018. Any revised roster had to meet statutory rest requirements. On-call participation was to be voluntary, with majority participation expected.
