The Labour Court recommended that CRas Iompair Éireann (CIE) give workers covered by the dispute 2.5% pay increases from 1 December 2018 and 1 December 2019, plus a €500 voucher each. The recommendation was signed on 29 June 2018. The Transport Salaried Staffs' Association and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought pay alignment with Iarnród Éireann. They said members should not be penalised for declining pay forego and offered to accept a six-month pay freeze. CIE argued the historic pay link had been broken when most workers rejected a cost-recovery proposal, and that only those who opted into pay forego should receive the linked award. The Court said its recommendation aimed to restore standardised pay rates across company grades. The vouchers were to be paid within four weeks after the parties confirmed acceptance.
