The Labour Court recommended that Shannon Heritage DAC give permanent and permanent seasonal staff a €200 voucher when it moves from weekly to fortnightly payroll, and a second €200 voucher a year later. The recommendation was dated 14 June 2018. The Court also recommended that the company offer those staff, on request, a loan of one net week’s wages, repayable over three or six months by agreement with the worker. For non-permanent seasonal staff, it recommended three months’ notice of the change where practical. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the change would require workers to rearrange direct debits and other repayments and sought compensation. The company said fortnightly pay would reduce administrative work and support compliance with real-time reporting rules.
