The Labour Court recommended that Enable Ireland, Forsa, the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Irish Nurses' and Midwives' Organisation engage on bringing pay rates back in line with comparable HSE grades. The recommendation was signed on 27 March 2018 and concerned about 180 union members. The unions said pay should track increases for comparable HSE grades under public service agreements. Enable Ireland said reduced state funding meant it could not meet the claim without significantly cutting services. The Court found merit in the unions’ claim and recommended asking funding agencies to restore subsidies and examining efficiencies to begin bringing pay rates back in line.
