Labour Court rejects union compensation claim over Inland Fisheries Ireland office clothing

The Labour Court found no merit in the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s compensation claim over an office clothing arrangement at Inland Fisheries Ireland. The recommendation was dated 26 March 2018. The union sought implementation of a long-standing clothing agreement, a buyout of the benefit and compensation for its loss since 2009. Inland Fisheries Ireland said the voluntary uniform arrangement ended after a 2010 amalgamation, and administrative staff could wear office-appropriate clothing or choose company-provided workwear. The Court said uniform use had been elective and many staff had not used the facility. It made no recommendation on other matters raised at the hearing that both sides agreed were outside the dispute.
