Labour Court recommends €2,500 payment in an post worker dispute

By Gráinne Nolan

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that an post pay a worker €2,500 in final settlement of a dispute over its handling of concerns under its Dignity at Work Policy. The decision was signed on 16 March 2018, after an post and the union appealed an earlier recommendation for €5,000. The worker, represented by CWU, said an post had not addressed his concerns promptly and that delays caused financial losses during sick leave. An post said it had acted appropriately and tried to support his return to work when medically fit. The Court made no finding that an post had failed to follow its procedures. It found the informal process had been followed and that the worker had not invoked the formal stage. The Court said it could not make findings on bullying or harassment, and recommended the payment in the interests of good industrial relations.
