The Labour Court recommended changing the promotional-grade agreement between Thermo King (Galway) and Unite The Union. The recommendation was signed on 19 February 2018. The union argued that a person with six months’ cumulative service in a promotional position over two years should retain the grade and associated pay rate. The employer supported keeping the existing procedure. The Court recommended clarifying the agreement so a person upgraded for more than six months in a nine-month period would retain the grade, as full and final settlement of the dispute.
