The Labour Court recommended that AXA Insurance DAC’s redundancy terms for affected retail branch network and telesales staff be amended to provide six weeks’ pay per year of service. The recommendation was signed on 19 February 2018. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Unite the Union sought enhanced terms, including more weeks per year of service and a higher cap, saying the proposed package was outside industry norms. AXA said its proposal was in line with the insurance sector and it could not sustain the additional cost. The Court recommended replacing the proposed rate of 5.5 weeks with six weeks’ pay per year of service, with the other terms in the 13 December 2017 document remaining in place.
