Labour Court recommends restoring sick-pay terms for later recruits

The Labour Court recommended that Money Advice & Budgeting Service (MABS) apply the sick-pay terms for staff recruited before 1 May 2014 to those recruited after that date. It also recommended that the parties negotiate any proposed changes through normal procedures. The recommendation was signed on 29 January 2018. Unite The Union sought the original scheme for all employees, saying the terms for new recruits had changed without negotiation. MABS said the changes followed public-sector sick-pay terms. The Court noted that discussions agreed in June 2015 had not taken place and that Unite remained willing to negotiate.
