Labour Court recommends both sides accept terms for hourly-paid lecturers

The Labour Court recommended that the National College Of Art & Design and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept the full terms of a WRC proposal on contract hours for part-time hourly-paid lecturers appointed as Equivalent Part-Time Lecturers. The recommendation was signed on 12 December 2017. The union sought a 33.33% increase in contract hours to account for administrative duties it said had previously been unpaid. The Court considered that claim new and did not concede it, but recommended that both parties accept the WRC proposal’s full terms, including retrospective payment from 1 May 2016.
