The Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept Pepsico’s three-year pay offer for workers at its Little Island plant. The recommendation was signed on 24 November 2017. The union had sought a 5.5% increase over one year from 1 February 2017. Pepsico’s earlier offer of 2.75% for one year was rejected by union members. Its later offer set increases of 2.75%, 3% and 3.25% over three years from 1 February 2017. The Court noted that the deal had been accepted at other Pepsico plants and by the TEEU at Little Island. It also noted that the effect of the proposed sugar tax on Pepsico’s business was unknown.
