The Labour Court recommended that Dublin Bus pay each driver the equivalent of 45 minutes’ pay at appropriate overtime rates to resolve a dispute over public-holiday duties on 17 March 2017. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) and National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) said rostering rules were breached and sought compensation. Dublin Bus disputed this, saying it had used universal duties for similar events. The Court recommended that the parties discuss deployment of those duties in their ongoing talks about schedule rules. The payment recommendation was specific to this dispute and would not set a precedent. The recommendation was signed on 21 November 2017.
