The Labour Court recommended two 1% pay adjustments in a dispute between Mondelez Ireland Ltd and Unite Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union. The recommendation was signed on 13 November 2017. The union had sought a 5% basic pay increase over 12 months without further productivity conditions; the company argued for a pay-for-change deal, citing cost management and site competitiveness. The Court recommended a 1% adjustment from 1 May 2016 and another from 1 November 2017, with the agreement to expire on 30 October 2018. It also recommended that technicians be contactable by company mobile phone while on site, that one third of training hours be available for local block-specific training, and that the parties engage on annual structured performance conversations in return for the pay adjustments. The Court further recommended that the company improve the quality of overalls.
