Labour Court tells Boxmore Plastics to explain worker’s redeployment

The Labour Court recommended that Boxmore Plastics Ltd explain to a worker represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union why he was selected for redeployment and how long it was likely to last. The recommendation was dated 6 November 2017. The worker said he moved to another workstation for training in early 2017 but remained there, and that the company had not explained its selection criteria. Boxmore Plastics said the loss of a major customer and redundancies meant staff had to be moved to cover machines. The Court noted that the move had not affected his earnings or other employment terms, and recommended that he and his union be told of any change in circumstances.
