The Labour Court recommended that Wicklow County Council pay a worker an annual €3,000 allowance for duties beyond his existing role. The recommendation was dated 1 November 2017. The worker's appeal was brought by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, which said his duties and responsibilities warranted a Craft Foreman rate. The council disputed the proposed grade. The Court found he performed some duties beyond his existing role, but did not accept the union's review as a proper job evaluation. The allowance was recommended from 15 July 2015, when the claim was lodged, and was personal to the worker. The council had also committed to include it in any salary assimilation arising from redeployment.
