The Labour Court rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim to extend a special allowance to four depot security guards employed by STT Risk Management. Its recommendation was dated 31 October 2017. The union argued the depot guards had been included in the earlier claim and were available to work on the Luas. STT said the earlier recommendation covered dynamic guards assigned to Luas duties, which required advanced training and involved different work. The Court found the allowance was an interim measure linked to reclassification for security staff working on Luas lines. The depot guards were not part of that process, so the earlier recommendation did not apply to them.
