The Labour Court recommended two 2.75% pay increases for Murray Timber Products employees after the company rejected the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for two 3.5% rises. The recommendation was signed on 27 September 2017. The union sought one 3.5% increase from 1 August 2016 and another from 1 August 2017. Murray Timber Products offered a 2% rise over 24 months, citing trading difficulties linked to Brexit and a fall in sterling. The company also said a production related bonus was expected to yield more than €6,500 per employee. The Court recommended a 2.75% increase from 1 July 2017 to 30 September 2018, followed by a further 2.75% increase from 1 October 2018 to 31 December 2019.
