The Labour Court rejected a worker’s appeal over his redeployment at Galway-Mayo Institute Of Technology in a decision dated 27 September 2017. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, challenged his move from the School of Business back to the Electronics Department. The Court found that the Institute had consulted adequately and had offered to seek expressions of interest from other technicians, an option the worker declined. It upheld the Adjudication Officer’s recommendation that the Institute was within its rights to redeploy him.
