The Labour Court recommended urgent talks between Amt- Sybex Software Limited and Unite The Union over proposed compulsory redundancies affecting eight people. The recommendation was signed on 26 September 2017. The union said the employer had not agreed to engage with it, while the employer did not attend the hearing. The Court concluded statutory consultation had not resulted in effective engagement. It recommended considering cost-saving alternatives, pursuing voluntary redundancies first and making redeployment available where possible. It also recommended terms of 5.5 weeks’ pay per year of service, inclusive of statutory redundancy entitlement, and a minimum lump sum and retraining support for those who did not qualify for statutory redundancy.
