Labour Court overturns recommendation in Dublin City Council shift-status dispute

The Labour Court overturned an earlier recommendation and said Dublin City Council should keep a worker on his current shift and make every effort to restore his yard service and status as if he had not changed shifts. The recommendation was signed on 25 September 2017. The worker, represented by the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union, said a move between shifts in 2015 cost him his yard service and affected his seniority. The Council relied on a 1997 agreement covering transfers. The Court noted that an investigation had found no grounds for disciplinary sanctions against him.
