The Labour Court recommended that a worker and an employer appoint a facilitator to help rebuild their working relationship. The recommendation was signed on 28 August 2017. The worker sought restoration to his Instructor/Supervisor post and compensation for seven years of lost earnings, which he said totalled €105,000 after an annual pay reduction of €15,000. He also complained that recommended physiotherapy for a workplace injury was not provided and that he faced bullying and harassment. The employer did not attend the hearing. The Court found that the relationship had deteriorated markedly and was no longer working for either side. It recommended that both sides set the past aside and agree on a trusted facilitator, with the Court to nominate one if they could not agree. The recommendation did not award compensation or decide the worker’s claims on their merits.
