The Labour Court recommended that Chemical Inspection and Regulation Service Limited pay a worker €6,500 after finding her redundancy procedurally and substantively unfair. The recommendation was signed on 28 August 2017. The worker, an Administrative Assistant, said her role was advertised twice after she was dismissed. The employer did not attend the hearing, leaving her account of the advertisements uncontested. The Court found the employer still needed an Administrative Assistant at least part time. It said the worker should have been told that the full-time requirement was under review and offered the part-time role. The recommended payment was equivalent to about 13 weeks’ gross pay.
