The Labour Court recommended a once-off €1,000 payment to each worker covered by a dispute over earlier starts at Rosslare Europort. The recommendation, signed on 28 July 2017, followed a change from a 6am start to 3.30am for three days in an 18-day period, affecting 56 operative staff. Iarnrod Eireann and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union disputed whether the 2001 agreement covered the earlier start. The Court found that the agreement had not envisaged starts before 6.15am. It also recommended that future roster-time changes be covered by the agreement’s flexibility clauses.
