The Labour Court recommended a phased 6% pay increase over three years for members of the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union at Burnside Hydracyl (Ballymoon) Ltd. The recommendation was signed on 17 July 2017. The union sought 7% over two years, arguing the company could afford it and members’ contribution to LEAN manufacturing supported the claim. The company said wages were 33% of turnover against a target of about 28% and stressed the need for co-operation with productivity and LEAN developments. Its offer was 2% in 2017, 1.5% in 2018 and 1.5% in 2019, conditional on that co-operation. The Court recommended increasing the offer to 2% in each of 2017, 2018 and 2019. It also recommended that the parties jointly agree how to make the productivity and LEAN system work effectively.
