The Labour Court recommended that Roscommon County Council make no change to its maximum annual flexi-leave allowance and provide training and guidance for line managers. Its recommendation in a dispute with the Irish Municipal, Public And Civil Trade Union was signed on 19 July 2017. The Council had proposed limiting annual flexi-leave to two days, while the existing scheme allowed staff to accumulate up to 13 days. The union sought to retain the current provisions and extend them to affected staff. The Court said the scheme’s existing controls were adequate if managers operated them effectively, allowing staff hours and attendance to be aligned with the Council’s business and operational needs.
