The Labour Court recommended that Diageo - St James's Gate increase the basic rate offered to new craft grade entrants from €44,650 to €47,342. The recommendation, signed on 6 June 2017, followed a dispute with the Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union over new starter terms. The union said the proposed pay reduction was excessive and opposed additional reductions to pensions, bonuses and annual hours. The company argued that its proposal reflected the 2010 agreement and terms accepted by other grades. The Court limited its recommendation to matters affecting this category, recommending that a 33.33% shift rate apply to the higher basic rate. It described the increase as full and final settlement of the matters before it.
