The Labour Court recommended that the HSE (University Hospital Group, Limerick) and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union check locally whether eligible staff recruited before 2009 had received their early-start premium correctly. The recommendation was signed on 10 April 2017. The union said staff starting at 7:45am had received a premium before 2013 and sought retrospective payment for workers whose premium was withheld. The employer said staff appointed or promoted after 2009 did not qualify for the alternative payment arrangement. The Court recommended that any identified payment errors be corrected from the date they began. It also recommended that the parties consider the premium for staff recruited from 2014 onwards at an appropriate national forum.
