The Labour Court recommended that Adelaide Meath Incorporating the National Children's Hospital pay a worker €5,520.50 for loss of earnings, amending the Adjudication Officer’s recommendation. The decision was signed on 30 January 2017. The worker, a catering manager, said she was entitled to compensation under the Public Service Agreements after a fire in the catering department led to her temporary reassignment to clerical work. She said she should not have to sign a new contract to receive the payment. The employer accepted that she was entitled to the compensation but said payment required her agreement to the terms for her current role. The Court treated the compensation claim as separate from the disagreement about her role and contract. It recommended payment in full and final settlement of the loss-of-earnings claim, leaving other matters to normal procedures.
